my attempt at scrappy string quilt blocks

Last night I had about an hour before one of my favorite shows,Survivor, came on. I decided to go up in my sewing room and attempt to make a scrappy string quilt block. I made 4! It was fun. I have a little box of scraps ( not like Pat's overflowing basket :) ) . Just a little box . I made some strips and went to work. I think I'm hooked ~

These blocks would make a lovely and whimsical quilt. I can't wait to see the finished project. I recognize some of the scraps from stash fabrics we've used in our "All Roads Lead to the Sea" quilts! Being a "scrap-a-holic" I may have to try this, and risk getting hooked as well. ;)

OOOOO...I love them, Barb. I know some people try to get all "matchy" about their string blocks...like using the same fabric (or at least the same color) for the starting strip on each block, but I love it super-scrappy. To me, it's more fun that way rather than stressing about having the "right" color strip. MY only rule is that I don't use the same fabric twice in the same little square.....so my squares each have anywhere from 6 - 11 different fabrics and look (in my opinion) really fun when put together with 3 other squares....even if some fabrics are the same in the other 3 squares. Your blocks are done the same way I do mine, so I think they are SUPER. LOL Since I posted my scrap basket...I have made 12 squares and would like to do a full-sized quilt for the guest bedroom....at least I could change curtains to ANY color and they'd match. hehehe

What great blocks! I love the scrappy look. I'm getting my strings organized and can't wait to try something like this. Please show us more.
